Kenneth (Kenny) LeRoy Mitchell, Sr., 86, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away peacefully the evening of April 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Kenny was born August 5, 1937 to John H. and Irene (Mitchell) Reed.

Kenny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at a young age. However, as an adult, he made a public declaration July 5th, 1998, by being baptized at Compassion Baptist Church, Lorain, Ohio by Rev. James Williams.

He attended Elyria Public Schools and at the age of seventeen enlisted into the United States Air Force. He completed basic military training at Lackland Airforce Base, TX, and preceded to study as an Electrician Apprentice at Keesler AFB Biloxi, MS. Upon graduation from Technical Training School, Kenny was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and then assigned stateside in Portland, Oregon.

After leaving the Air Force, Kenny worked for various area employers such as Ford Motor Co., Lorain, The City of Lorain, Luxaire Corporation, Elyria, and retired from Parker Hannifin (Cleveland Aerospace), Avon in 1999.

Kenny’s unconditional love and affection was felt by all. He loved working in his yard, camping at Schaun Acres and spending time with family. He had a passion for and collected many clocks. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns. He could be found walking his dogs throughout the neighborhood. Everyone loved and respected Mr. Mitchell.

Kenny leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Linda Mitchell; sons, Kenneth (Robin) Mitchell Jr. and Michael (Gloria) Bason of Elyria, OH; Keith (Angela) Mitchell of San Antonio, TX,  and Doniel (Amanda) Mitchell of Elyria, OH; daughters, Tanya Jackson of Elyria, OH; Patricia Mitchell of Lorain, OH; a host of step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, William (Sondra) Moore of Elyria, OH; sisters, Jane Richardson, Janet Nieves, and Joanne Fitzpatrick of Elyria, OH; and his dog Prince LeRoy Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosalee (Payne) Mitchell, parents, John H. and Irene Reed; brothers, John W. Reed, Robert Reed Sr.; sister, Velma Camel; children, Tony Jackson, Gilbert Mitchell and Terri Horton; granddaughter Ciara Mitchell and his dog Face LeRoy Mitchell.
