Kenneth Leroy Montgomery, born December 5th, 1955 at Memorial Hospital in
Bartlesville, OK. to Goldie Blevins and Joe Bennett.
Ken lived with his great aunt Della May and uncle Pete McCormack until he was 16. He attended grade school in Ochelata, Ramona, and graduated high school in Dewey, class of 1973. He joined the Army right out of high school and served in the Army National Guard from June of '75 to '81.
He also started working with the City of Bartlesville in April of '78, initially with the water department, then Parks, and eventually assumed the position as Sexton at White Rose Cemetery. (He would always joke he was the last one to let anyone down) After 30 years of service to the City of Bartlesville he retired in 2007.
You could show up at any given time and find Ken in his shop, out in the garden or tending to his chickens, but as one does bored in retirement, he decided he needed something else to do, so he went back to the City for an additional 7yrs doing mosquito spraying, and other various jobs such as setting up the Christmas lights in Johnstone Park and volunteering for Sunfest at Sooner Park with his beloved wife Lynn. He continued to do the Christmas lights with Paul Hicks for an additional 10 years, each time saying to each other "this is the last year we're doing this". If you're old enough, you got the pleasure to see him as Santa at Washington Park Mall, where he met longtime friend Richard Remintgon and various others who would continue their strong friendships over the years, even after poker nights filled with good food, tall tales and lots of fun with, Guy, Ben and Billy-D.
Though Ken never stopped moving and loved a good project to keep him busy, those side jobs stopped when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2017. Being the man he is, he made the best of every moment and turned it all into a joke. Frequently saying "blame it on the tumor… or remember I had a tumor". Ken's sense of humor touched everyone he ever met, including Mintu at Kim's providing him and others with his daily, yes daily, "opinions" on politics, the weather, and "what the hell kids are wearing these days". He would drop anything he was doing to head your way if you needed any help, it didn't matter who you were or if it was cross country, unless it was to Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed showing up to school events to spend time with Anara.
His favorite color is blue, he enjoyed playing dice, cards and scrabble. Watching westerns, pointing out small details they'd miss in filming. He loved the holidays, and all the family get-togethers being around his kids, grandkids and anyone else who he considered family, blood or not and although over the years he had many different titles, there were some he "earned". Son, Husband, Father, Father-n-law. And Grandfather aka "Papa Kenny" or "Grandpa Chicken".
