Kenneth Rogers Nelson, a country boy at heart will be known for his loving nature, kindness, and being a friend passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Born on August 12, 1941, in Greenville, North Carolina, to Bertha and Wes Nelson, Kenneth's life was a testament to the values of dedication, service, and family.

Kenneth's journey began in the very town where he would later leave his indelible mark. Growing up alongside his brother David and sister Carolyn, he developed a strong sense of loyalty and camaraderie that would define his relationships throughout his life. After completing his education, Kenneth proudly served his country in the US Army Field Artillery, with two years of active duty followed by several years in the Army Reserves. His service to the nation was a source of great pride and instilled in him a profound sense of responsibility and honor.

After his military service, Kenneth returned to his roots in Greenville, where he continued to embody the virtues he held dear. Kenneth was married to Sue Nelson for 33 years until her passing in 2014. His life was further enriched by the love and joy of his family. His children, Randell, Jimmy, and Connie, along with his stepsons, Greg and Kip Gaskins. Kenneth has several grandchildren. Brandon Potter, Jami Cavenaugh, Meagan Walters, Kasey Combs, Austin Gaskins, Suzanne Justice and Walker Gaskins. His great granddaughters Isabella Nichols and Presley Cavenaugh. A very special friend Karen McIntosh who helped take care of him. Special friend Karen Ennis who was a loving neighbor and friend for many years.

A Christian, Kenneth lived his faith through his actions, offering kindness and support to those around him. His love for music, particularly playing the guitar, filled his home with music and memories. Kenneth's passion for westerns and NASCAR racing brought excitement and entertainment to many of his evenings.

Kenneth's life was one of adventure and hard work. He was a friend to many, always ready to lend an ear or share a laugh. His legacy is not only in the love he shared but also in the example he set of living a life with purpose and hard work.

He will be deeply missed by so many. Rest in peace Daddy!
