Sheila Bright Harris, 63, a resident of Greenville, passed away on September 19, 2025 after a long battle with cancer and diabetes. Born in Beaufort County on July 15, 1962, she was the daughter of Katherine Phelps Prescott of Greenville and the late John Doremus Bright (JR) of Chocowinity.

Sheila had a smile that could brighten any room she entered. She loved to laugh and to make others happy. Her love of God's creatures led her to be the mom of many cats and dogs during her lifetime. Her pets were the loves of her life and no pets ever fared better. Daisy, Pia, Little E and Sammy were just a few of her beloved four-legged babies. She worked for many years in the Pitt County District Attorney's Office in which she created friendships that spanned into her final years. Sheila enjoyed relaxing days on the water with a fishing pole, a love she inherited from her father. She traveled often to music venues before her sickness with her husband, Nicky Harris.

Survivors include her mother, Katherine Phelps Prescott; her husband Nicky Harris; three stepdaughters, Branlyn Roberson, Misty Roberson, and Tina Jackson, all from Greenville; a half-brother, Randy Bright; and stepsister, Clara Brown.

Along with her father, Sheila was predeceased by a brother, Jay Bright, whom she loved and missed very much for the rest of her life.

Libby and Jack Dandridge, Elaine Anderson, and Cindy Sweezy were special friends offering love and support during the difficult years of Sheila's sickness. The family sends a special thanks to the Carrow family, Sheila's aunt, uncle and cousins, for their love and ongoing support. Also, Gentiva Hospice team for the outstanding care and comfort they provided Sheila and her family during the last weeks of her life.

Sheila requested that no service be held, but that friends spend time with family and hug them tightly to honor her, which was Sheila's style of living.
