Gerry Mathey Harris, born on May 13, 1951, in Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories. Gerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him. Gerry graduated from Corsicana High School in 1969, where he loved his high school years, especially being part of "The Lodge" group. He continued his education at Abilene Christian University from 1969 to 1973. In 1973, he moved to Dallas and began his career in banking at Valley View Bank. A chance encounter at a softball game in 1975, made up of ACU connections, led him to meet the love of his life. On June 18, 1977, Gerry married Kay Lynn Orr, and together they embarked on a remarkable journey that lasted over 48 years. Their story was filled with love, family, and community. They initially settled in Mesquite, before moving back to Corsicana in 1981. Gerry and Kay Lynn were blessed with two sons, Greg Austin in 1982 and Todd William in 1984. Gerry's life in Corsicana was marked by his active involvement in the community - from his work at Corsicana National Bank, attending countless Little League baseball and soccer games, enjoying many rounds of golf, to his love of fishing. He also enjoyed his time at St. Elmo Corner Store and working at the Corsicana Tax Office. A devout member of Westhill Church of Christ, Gerry moved his membership to Kerens Church of Christ in 2009, where he served as an elder for 15 years. His church family was his backbone, and he often expressed his gratitude after every service, saying, "we are so blessed." One of his most treasured memories was attending the "Orr Deal," his wife's family reunion and his favorite church service of the year. His life was literally saved at this service and gave him another 10 years on this earth. Gerry was a true people person, cherishing time spent with family and friends. His unwavering faith carried him through life's ups and downs, and he finished his journey with grace and humility. He is survived by his wife, Kay Lynn; his son, Greg Austin Harris of Dallas; his son Todd William, Courtney, and grandson James Parker Harris of Dallas; brother-in-law Roland Orr and sister-in-law Jeri Orr of Abilene; nephew Rodney and Joanna Wray of Kaufman; niece Julie Beth and Adam Fox of Arrington, TN; niece Jane and Bryan Lucas of Kaufman; and many cousins and friends who were like family to him. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rollin and Vivian Harris; sister Kathy Mitchell; and brother Mark Harris. A visitation will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2, beginning at 12:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kerens Church of Christ, PO Box 6, Kerens, TX 75114. Gerry's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and love will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live in our hearts.

Kay Lynn and Family,
What a treasure Gerry was to you all. To you Kay Lynn, he was your love. He was also a dad, grandad, friend, uncle, cousin and on and on. I know his love for you all ran deep.
I remember his smile, his kindness and his fun connections to friends at ACC.
I pray for rest and I know you are receiving the peace and comfort that comes only from our loving Father in heaven.
Kay Lynn, it was so good to see you, even for a few minutes, at reunion. I wish I could be there to give you a hug.
See you all in Heaven,
Cathy Fenter Shipley
