Kenneth “Ken” MacEllis Norberg, Jr., 70 of Lexington, Missouri passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO surrounded by his loving family. 

 

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South St., Lexington, MO, 64067, 660-259-2245. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment with military rites will be at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Kelley Norberg for determination at a later date. Ken was born on May 30, 1954, in Kansas City, MO to Kenneth MacEllis Norberg, Sr. and Fontelle Yvonne (Maher) Norberg. Ken was raised by his mother and stepfather John “Jack” Heeter in Overland Park, KS and Ken graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School. Ken served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974 as a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. On July 19, 1975, Ken was united in marriage to Kelley Suzanne Brandt in Lenexa, KS. He retired in 2006 from Consolidated Fire District # 2 in Johnson County, KS. Ken also owned and operated a private investigative firm for 25 years. Ken was a lifelong gun enthusiast who took the hobby post-retirement to a new level. Ken, a marksman, avid hunter and shooting enthusiast, developed, patented, and manufactured scope mounts for antiquated bolt action rifles, while building a successful company, Rock Solid Industries. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters. In addition to spending time with family and friends, Ken enjoyed traveling, road trips, and being a great family man. 

 

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kelley Norberg of Lexington, MO; three daughters, Keely (Clint) Wood, Kristen (Nathan) Goetz, and Kaitlyn Norberg, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Chandler Himbury, Cooper Himbury, Corbyn Himbury, Tenley Goetz, Cainen Goetz, Paxton Goetz, Maclaine Goetz, Regan Wood, and Owen Wood; two sisters, Leisa Charles of Shawnee, KS and Paula (Brian) Hirt of Lake Zurich, IL; one brother, Norman Norberg of Lexington, MO; two nieces, Kelley Hirt of Chicago, IL and Darcy Hirt of Lake Zurich, IL; two nephews, Erik Hirt of Fox Lake, IL and Kyle Norberg of McKinney,TX; and many relatives and friends. 

 

In addition to his parents and stepfather, Ken was preceded in death by two brothers, John Heeter and Glen Norberg.
