Born June 26, 1932, in Gillette WY to John J Oliver and Mary E (Anderson) Oliver, He was their second son. He attended grade school and high school in Gillette, Wy. Spent his summer months working on the Buzzard Ranch south of Alcova WY.

Ken enlisted in the US Navy in May of 1953, served in Korea, in Wonson Harbor on the USS Air Kona ATA. Received the National Defense & Koren metal while in the Navy. He traveled most of the Pacific Ocean from Alaska to below the equator and everywhere in between. After being honorably discharged in May of 1955 he returned to Gillette WY, and later that year he moved to Sheridan, WY. He attended LJ Hinman College of Business for one year, then he attended Billings Business College for a year.

After college he returned to Sheridan where he met Inez (Capitola) Marschang. They married December 15 th , 1957. That marriage lasted 60 years until Inez passed away on April 10th , 2018. Together they had one daughter Cindy. After college Ken went to work for Cashway Lumber Co. He was manager there for 14 years. He than worked at Weissman Steel for 2 years, before he took a job with Bighorn Coal Co. his was there for 8 years. he returned to work for Weissman Steel for 9 years when he retired from there at the age 62. He decided to take a part time job at Bloedorn Lumber, he worker there in the yard for 21 years when he retired again on June 23, 2018.

Ken was a life member of the VFW Post 1560; he served as commander of the Post for 3 terms. He also served as District #2 Commander for one term. He loved all animals, especially his dog Mitzi. He was also very devoted to taking care of his cows and helping with his daughter's cows. He spent many years working on the family ranch doing a little of everything. Ken also loved wood working and building and could build almost anything out of every type of wood.

He absolutely loved spending time with his family. Him enjoyed getting together for birthdays, playing poker and pool on holidays. He was a very share man in many ways and his daughter, grandkids will miss all the knowledge and memories of his life that he shares with them on several occasions. Ken was a hard worker and a very thoughtful persons, he was also well spoken and firm when he wanted his voice to be heard.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Inez, his parents, brother William (Bill) Oliver, and grandson Jason Marshall. He is survived by his daughter Cindy Marshall, Granddaughter Virginia (Timothy) Brewer. Great-grandson's John (Melissa) Marshall, Nathan (Tylynn) Brewer, Colton (Shelby) Brewer, Jacob Marshall, and James Marshall. Great granddaughters, Kayla (Bryce) Wilson, Atala (Cody) Funk, Rebecca Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall. Adopted great grandson Trey Krohn. Great, great grandchildren Shaylynn, Aryonnah, Brandon , Rylinn, Ryker, Lillith and Colton.

To Honor the Life and Service of Kenneth James Oliver, A Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., in the Champion Kane Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Reception in the Champion Kane Reception Hall.

Interment will take place after the reception in the Juniper Heights section of the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Cindy and family: We are so sorry to hear about your dad! Everyone loved him so much! We always sat next to him at family gatherings cuz he was so fun and witty! He always had a great comment or story to tell that would make all of us smile! Sending everyone big hugs...I know this is such a hard and fragile time! Hold that wonderful dad of yours in your heart until you can hold him again in heaven! Love you all!
