Coach Ken Pirc
Surrounded by his family, Ken passed calmly in the early hours of Sunday evening. At 71, Ken touched many hearts throughout his life and left lasting impressions on anyone he met. As a well-respected coach, he took great pride in developing and mentoring youth baseball in the Joliet area. Keeping alive the tradition of his father, nothing made him happier than being at the fields. Ken was also a passionate and accomplished golfer.
In retirement, he was able to devote his time to his greatest accomplishment, his grandkids. With his wife Jeanne at his side, they were fortunate to travel to baseball tournaments and visit with extended family. Ken was a devoted member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church community. He lived a happy and fulfilling life. Those who knew him best, quote him often and speak well of his character. He will be dearly missed.
Ken is survived by his wife of 48 years: Jeanne (nee Tamraz); three children: Brandy (Bill) Baltz, Stu (Lisa) Pirc and Bob Pirc (Olivia Landis), and seven grandchildren: Ally, Mary, John, Andrew, Kailey, Sam and Logan.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Tony and Josephine (nee Plese) Pirc and sister: Carol Pirc.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road in Joliet. A Celebration of Ken's life will continue on Friday, June 4, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until closing prayers at 9:30 a.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home. The funeral will then process to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow and Ken will be laid to rest at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Crest Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Ken's memory to Lightways Hospice (formerly Joliet Area Community Hospice).
