Kenneth Albert Powell, Sr.,71, passed away on January 15, 2026, while resting comfortably at his home after a battle with illness.
Kenneth was born in Quincy, FL, on February 5, 1954, son of the late George Edwards Powell and Maxine Simms Powell.
He enjoyed many personal and professional milestones throughout his life, from car dealership owner, mining invest/operator, business consultant, and most notably as a successful State of Florida Legislative Lobbyist. Known for his quick wit, and anecdotal sayings, always being nattily attired; he could certainly command a room.
Kenneth is survived by his children, daughter Rebecca Mayhann (Robert Whiting) (Tallahassee, FL), son Kenneth (Amy) Powell, Jr. (Tallahassee, FL. ), a stepson Eric (Caroline Peterson (Pensacola, FL.) and their mother, former first wife, Joan P. Collier (Tallahassee, FL), as well as, daughter Kendall Powell (Panama City Beach, FL) and her mother, former second wife, Deborah W. Powell. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kase A Powell (Kenneth, Jr. & Amy), and leaves behind his granddaughter, Kelby Mayhann (Rebecca Tallahassee, FL) and his grandsons Knox and Koen Powell (Kenneth Jr. & Amy-Tallahassee, FL.), and brother, George Powell (Miami, FL.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Kenneth’s exceptional life will be held on February 7th, 2026, from 1- 3 pm at 10145 Bull Headley Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. We invite all who knew and loved Kenneth to join in the Celebration. The family will hold a private graveside service directly following the Celebration.
