Kenneth Robinson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perry Funeral Home - Newark on Jun. 7, 2024.
Kenneth L. Robinson, the only son born to Annette Harris and Augustus Harris (deceased), departed from this life early Friday morning, May 31, 2024.
Kenneth, better known as Kenny "In Demand" Robinson by his friends was born in East Orange, New Jersey on October 14, 1959. Kenneth was a precocious young boy who showed an aptitude for music at a very early age. He attended the public schools of Newark graduating from Arts High School in 1977. Kenneth's musical proclivities continued to flourish with his arcane understanding of the guitar and how to make it "sing". He resided in Newark his entire life and brought the magic of his music to the hearts of so many.
Kenny worked various jobs before obtaining a position at the United Parcel Service, where he was employed for over 31 years. He was a loyal and dedicated worker who had many faithful friends and co-workers. He loved to help others, but perhaps his greatest love, besides his mother and family was his music. He and his very good friend Dr. Tony Alamin were music fanatics who taught themselves to play the guitar together at a young age. Kenneth owned an impressive collection of guitars which he was so proud to display and show to family and friends. He loved to tell you all about them and would even give short guitar lessons to a lucky few. He had a fierce love of guitars and this love was evident through the dedication, passion and joy he showed when he played on stage. Kenny was truly one of the best guitarist one could ever hear. He traveled extensively and performed at a number of venues in the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania areas for over 45 years.
Kenneth was dedicated to caring for his 98-year-old mother Annette, and always considered her well-being before anything else. He will be greatly missed by her, his family and friends
Kenneth leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Annette Harris, his son, Terrell Robinson, one step-sister, Vivian Lee (deceased), two nephews, and a host of cousins, co-workers and friends.
It takes a lifetime to face tragedy that comes our way. How to walk when your legs are weak. How to smile when your heart is sore. How to be brave when you say good bye. But mostly, how to carry on in life without you.

I meet Kenny when I played bass with the Black Widow Band, he was an excellent guitarist, one of the best I´ve seen. He had such a calm personality and an inviting spirit. He was the same person every time we played together.
I enjoyed playing with him and talking with him.
My condolences to the family.
God Bless

My cousin Kenny! He and my brother (Steven Borden) grew up best friends. Kenny was always at our house and would keep us laughing while telling his funny stories! He'd have us crying the way he told a story with all the funny animation! That was his way of bringing joy to others. Every Christmas he'd come to our house early in the morning with a gift for my mom and then he'd open his present from us and he'd stay all day playing with us and our toys. He was like my 5th brother my mother never had lol. I have a lifetime of memories with my cousin and he will be missed but this is not the end because his life has just begun in eternity and I'll see him again! Blessings!

Well where can I start kenny was a true friend,I remember when he would ask his mom to hold the car and take me and my brother out teaching us how to drive but the most important thing was he was one of the best father a kid could ever ask for he loved Terrell unconditionally. He wanted him to follow him playing the guitar but of course Terrell wasn't haven't it. We all grew up going to TWIN CITY where everybody knew everyone. Them were the days kenny you maybe gone physically but you will always be and forever in our hearts. S.I.P and play that guitar . Until we meet again love you always Carla and Family.
