Donald Seburn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Growney Funeral Home on Apr. 16, 2025.
Donald Seburn, known lovingly as "Don" by friends and family, was born on March 18, 1957, in Newark, New Jersey, as the second oldest of 9 children to Darlene and Kenneth Sr. Seburn. He departed this world peacefully on April 9, 2025, in Snellville, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
A proud graduate of Arts High School, Class of 1975, Don had an early appreciation for creativity and expression. But it was in his service to his country that he truly exemplified commitment, honor, and excellence. Serving in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1980 and again from 1982 to 1986, Don made significant contributions to his fellow Marines and the mission at hand. His distinguished service earned him numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Mast, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He was also honored with Letters of Appreciation and proudly recognized as Marine of the Month in June 1986.
Don's technical prowess was unmatched. He received extensive training in Advanced Aircraft Electronics, mastering complex flight control, navigation, and engine systems on a variety of aircraft including the CH-46, CH-53, A-4s, AHT-64s, and HUEYs. He not only diagnosed and repaired intricate systems, but he also mentored and trained others with patience, skill, and humility. His pursuit of knowledge continued at Coastal Carolina Community College, where he formally studied Computer Concepts and Theory.
For the last 38 years, Don worked as an Electronic Technician for the United States Postal Service, where he became a beloved and respected figure. For more than 25 of those years, he also wore the hat of Union Steward-advocating tirelessly for his coworkers and ensuring fairness in the workplace. He led with integrity, compassion, and a sharp sense of humor that made every shift brighter.
Beyond his accomplishments, Don was a deeply devoted father and grandfather. He poured his heart into his children-Ahmid, Jasmine, Alex, Shanti, Jamal, Jocelyn, and Thomas-and his grandchildren-Kimora, Ramello, and Jaylen. To them, he was not just a dad or a "Paw Paw," but a source of wisdom, strength, and love.
Don never missed an opportunity to crack a joke or bring a smile to someone's face. His sense of humor was a hallmark of whom he was-joyful, spirited, and full of life.
A certified Trekkie and machinery enthusiast, Don enjoyed classic re-runs of Star Trek, building computers, and troubleshooting.
In recent years, Don did quite a bit of traveling alongside his daughter Shanti. On his adventures, he indulged his passion for photography, rarely being found without toting his favorite Nikon around his neck. Don found peace in places like the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, which he often said was one of his favorite places on Earth.
Most importantly, Don was a man of deep faith. His love for the Lord shaped his life and was the foundation of his strength. He passed that faith on to his children and those fortunate enough to know him. His spirit, rooted in love and laughter, lives on in all of us.
Donald "Don" Seburn will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted father, proud Marine, curious explorer, lover of life, and a faithful servant of God.
