Kenneth W. Smith, 81, of Fairmount, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2026. Born on February 28, 1944, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of the late Drew and Dorothy Smith. Kenneth's journey through life was rich with experiences that shaped him into a beloved father, partner, and friend.
Kenneth dedicated many years of his life to his work as a truck driver, a role that allowed him to traverse the country and contribute to the vital transportation industry. Beyond his work, he held a deep connection to his community and attended The River Church. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those around him.
Kenneth was a man of many interests and passions. He found joy in farming, spent countless hours piecing together puzzles, and had a knack for collecting antiques. A true automotive enthusiast, he was a die-hard Ford guy who cherished trucks, cars, and toys alike. His playful spirit and love for life resonated in every aspect of his being.
Kenneth is survived by his devoted girlfriend, Martha McAdams, with whom he shared a loving partnership for the past ten years. He also leaves behind his five children: Kennith (Amber) Smith Jr., Greg (Tina) Smith, Amy (David) Ring, Ryan (Beth) Smith, and Justin Smith. They will carry forward his legacy of love, perseverance, and joy. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kennith, Alan, Bryndle, Aaron, Alexis, and Brianna; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Grady (Mary Lou) Smith, Stella Coulson, Glen (Brenda) Smith, Betty Arnold, Drewetta Flowers, Dorothy May Smith, Mark Smith, and James Rodgers; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Smith and Charlene Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Drew and Dorothy; brothers Bob Smith, Drew V. Smith, and Harold Smith; sister, Bonnie Sherburn; and brothers-in-law, Bob Coulson, Dan Arnold, and Mark Flowers.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Kenneth's wishes, cremation will take place.
