I am so sorry to hear of Ken´s death. He was someone I respected and enjoyed so much all the years I played in the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra with him. I was encouraged by him to become a vegan, and I knew it was for moral reasons, because he loved animals. I remember when Ken had cancer and was so brave and steady through it all. I went to several of the parties he and his family had on the Fourth of July. There was an aura of kindness and gentility about him as well as a sense of humor. And there was his playing, which was very special. He was always the principal violist in the orchestra at Pops and elsewhere. I hadn´t seen him in many years, but will always remember him as young at heart and fun to be around. Rest in Peace, Ken.

Ken was one of those presences that made it seem as if he would always be there, such a mainstay was he in the Boston scene. I held him in great respect; he was always prepared and always musical. I remember his solo in Enescu´s first Romanian Rhapsody, which was a work the Boston Pops Esplanade played frequently, and sometimes without rehearsal. He was unfailingly accomplished. He was also a character and even a bit idiosyncratic. I haven´t forgotten that he was a vegetarian and it was also he who introduced me to the Moosewood Cookbook, which I have used many times. Thank you, Ken. Rest well.

I was saddened to hear about Ken's passing. I haven't seen him in years, but used to sub in many of the orchestras in which he performed. I donated to Friends of Acadia in his memory.

Ken was such a sweet and gentle soul. My deepest sympathy to Catherine, his sons, daughter-in-law, grandson and and all his family. Ken lived with much kindness and grace and his talent was a gift to so many. He will certainly be missed. May his soul rest in peace.

I remember Ken from many years performing together in various orchestras. He was a fine player and a sweet person. He will be missed by all who knew him.

My heartfelt condolences to Catherine and to all his family for Ken's untimely death. I am sorry for any suffering he endured in the past year, and I am proud of him for pushing past it to keep contributing in music as he had always done. I last saw Ken at a Pro Arte concert, last autumn. As with all the times he played with Pro Arte, I strongly felt the integrity in both his playing and in his invaluable verbal ideas. May he rest in peace but always with a violin or viola in his hand!

It makes me very sad to hear that Ken has died. His influence on me as a musician and a human being was profound. Lessons with him were fantastic: his insight into technique ("this fingering might be better") and music in general were pearls of wisdom. Being of similar age, we spent a great deal of time talking about musicians we were both familiar with, and I cherished the stories he would tell at each lesson. Never a lesson did pass without a mention of how Fin was doing - Ken's entire family gave him so much pleasure. Ken will be missed, but certainly not forgotten, such was his influence on generations of musicians in his care.

Ken and I were fellow students at Oberlin and again as students of Joseph Silverstein. He was as fine a person as he was a musician.

I was shocked to hear about Ken's passing. I haven't seen him in years, but enjoyed carpooling with him to Ballet occasionally, probably over 20 years ago. I have planted a tree in his memory and send my deepest sympathies to your family.

Catherine, I'm so very sorry to learn today of your tremendous loss. It was such a pleasure for me to get to know you and Ken. I will keep you in my prayers during this difficult time.

Catherine and Nathaniel and Gabriel, I am so sorry to learn this. Ken was such a wonderful, thoughtful person and also fun to be around. I'm grateful to have known him but shocked at his death at such a young age, even though I knew he was ill.
