Kenneth Leroy Taylor Sr.

On the morning of Monday, February 16, 2026, Kenneth (Ken) Leroy Taylor, Sr., passed away after a sudden and brief illness. He was 88 years young.
Born to Leroy and Grayton Taylor, Ken was a devoted brother to Gale Swindle, Bonnie Taylor, and Dean Taylor. A lifelong resident of Maryland, he grew up in Glen Burnie and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1955. Ken was a natural leader early on, serving as Class President and on the Student Advisory Council. His dedication to his classmates endured for decades, as he continued to organize class reunions well into his later years. He went on to attend George Washington University and the University of Baltimore.
Kens life was defined by his contagious smile and laughter, his character, and his stewardship towards others. A devout member of the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church since childhood, he served as the Superintendent of Sunday School, a longtime member of the Board of Trustees, and a choir member. He was instrumental in developing the "Dads and Lads" program and spearheaded the churchs first bus ministry.
Professionally, Ken was a dedicated civil servant for over 40 years at the Social Security Administration, working as a Chief Officer within the Safety Management Branch before retiring at age 72. Always industrious, he also worked alongside his mother to build and expand the Doll Motel and later owned and operated the Doll Furnished Apartments with his wife, Sally. His commitment to community service extended to the Green Hornets soccer program, where he served as a coach; the MD Employment Service, where he served as State Supervisor of youth activities; and the Youth Summer-Aid Program, where he was Assistant Director.
Despite his hard work, Ken knew how to enjoy life. He had a passion for hot rods and classic cars, taking great pride in customizing his 1957 purple T-Bird, which won him numerous trophies at car shows. A man of charismatic and joyful spirit, Ken loved playing his ukulele, singing, and swing dancing to Dixieland music with his beloved wife.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life and bride, Sally, who was by his side until the very endhis greatest wish. He leaves behind his sons, Todd Kenneth Taylor and Kenneth Leroy Taylor, Jr.; his daughter, Tara Taylor, PhD; and his grandson, Paxton Taylor Thomas.
His family and friends are heartbroken by his absence but comforted by his memory and by his faith in God and Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed and always loved, and we look forward to seeing him again in paradise.
