Kenny L. Thompson (Sonny), 52, of North Beach, MD, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2026. Born February 3, 1974, he was raised by the late Kenneth and Gloria Archibald.
Kenny was employed by Freestate Electric for 30 years, where his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. His influence extended beyond his career, inspiring those he raised and all who knew him.
He loved the outdoors and found joy in building and creating projects with his lifelong friend, Dave Donnells. Their time together was filled with conversation, laughter, and a friendship rooted in loyalty and trust. For Kenny, creating something with his own hands reflected who he was at heart. Helping others came naturally; he was the person friends and family called when something needed fixing, when advice or a new idea was needed, or simply when someone wanted to talk and share a cold beer. To all who knew him, Kenny was dependable, generous, supportive, and genuine.
Together with his life partner, Joan, Kenny built a life rooted in teamwork, always supporting each other through life's many challenges. Their bond was a testament to commitment, love, and responsibility. To his daughter, Brittany, Kenny was more than a father-he was her teacher, her constant, and her safe place. He was everything that mattered.
Kenny's legacy lives on in the lives of his friends and the love of his family, to whom he gave so much.
He is survived by his partner, Joan Milstead; his daughter, Brittany Thompson, and her husband, Joseph Tennison; his granddaughter, Sage Tennison; his stepdaughter, Jyle Milstead, and her fiancé, Jais Kirkman, and their son, Jireh; his brother, Kenneth Archibald Sr.; his niece, Stephanie Archibald; and his nephew, Kenny Archibald.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736, for a viewing on Thursday, April 2, from 2-4 p.m., with a ceremony to follow.
