Rev. Kenneth Mark Trexler, 92, of Tunkhannock passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne Garis Trexler in April 2025.
Born on August 29, 1933, in Laureldale, PA, he is the son of the late Reverend Mark and Blanche (Morgan) Trexler.
He was a graduate of Muhlenberg Township High School, followed by Muhlenberg College. He furthered his studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, where he prepared himself for a lifelong vocation in ministry. His first call was as the assistant pastor at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading, Pennsylvania. He later took on the role of pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Frackville, followed by the call to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scranton, for 27 years.
Even after retiring from full-time ministry, he continued to share his spiritual guidance and leadership as the interim pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Towanda, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hughestown, and Tunkhannock Presbyterian Church. Additionally, Kenneth generously served as a supply pastor at numerous area churches. He was active in ministry for over 61 years.
He is survived by son, Jonathan Trexler and wife Theresa; grandchildren, Mark Trexler, David Trexler, Catherine Trexler, Troy Torres Jr., Bernard Torres; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Boyer (Richard), Carolyn Woods (Glenn), and Hazel Hammond (George), and several nieces.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Services 3S, and Allied Services Hospice for their care and compassion. Also, Dr. Phillip Boccagno MD for his many years of excellent care. Finally, family friends John and Patty Holdridge for their many kindnesses and assistance over the years.
Funeral services will be held privately. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
