Robert Lawrence Cook (Larry), 65, of Tunkhannock passed away Friday, October 17, 2025, at home.
Born on March 21, 1960, in Meshoppen, he is the son of the late Robert Cook, Bessie Shupp, and Archie Shupp and is also survived by Elva Avery.
Larry was a 1978 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Shortly after graduation, he served his country in the United States National Guard. After his military service, Larry embarked on an impressive career as a truck driver, finding fulfillment in his roles with Shimonis Trucking and Carlisle Trucking for over 25 years. In his later years, Larry transitioned into staff management with Procter and Gamble before taking on a retirement job at Gay's True Value.
Larry treasured the time he spent with his family, understanding that these moments were what truly mattered. His interests included hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him great pleasure during his free time. Additionally, he had a fondness for watching old western TV shows.
He is survived by sons, Joseph Cook, Thomas Purcell, Mark Martin ; daughter, Jennifer Filan; step son, Shawn Burgess; sisters, Donna LaBar and Tina Pettis; grandchildren, Hailey, Bryson, Benson, Myranda; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David James "DJ" Burgess; brother, Richard Cook.
Family and friends are invited to attend Larry's funeral services which will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 7:00 PM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Gary Meyers presiding. Private interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service on Thursday.
