Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home - TunkhannockDavid C. Byrnes, 69, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on March 28, 1956, in Washington, NJ, he is the son of the late Gerald Byrnes and Shirley (Castner) Swenson.
He was a 1974 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. David worked for Warner Pools and Spas before moving on to Reeves Rent-A-John, where he continued to work until his retirement.
David was known for his great sense of humor, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His love for comedy and comics was a testament to his playful spirit, and he spent many enjoyable hours watching old western movies.
He was a member of the Tunkhannock Assembly of God Church. He was also a longtime member of the Wyoming County Pool League playing on many different teams in the county and the Beagles Pub.
He is survived by his son, Devin Byrnes; stepdaughter, Chimene Pelletier; former wife, Kim Byrnes; brothers, Joesph Swenson, Scott Swenson and wife Debbie, Steve Swenson and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Alex and Brenden Richardson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Gerald Byrnes and Daniel Swenson; sister Lorraine Swenson; stepfather, Romayne Swenson.
Family and friends are invited to attend David's Celebration of Life which will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Monday.
