Kenneth Roger Utecht, affectionately known as "Ken", passed away on July 19, 2025, in Green Bay, Wisconsin surrounded by family.  Born on February 3, 1945, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Hilbert and Phyllis (Koenig) Utecht. Ken lived a life filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories.

Ken dedicated many years to his career as a professional driver, achieving an impressive milestone of over two million miles "under his butt". He especially enjoyed the numerous bus trips over the years with Lamers Bus Lines and the mission trips with Mount Olive Lutheran Church.  His passion for service extended beyond driving; he was also recognized as a volunteer firefighter for Rothschild, showcasing his commitment to helping others.  With over 20 years of dedicated service in the welding industry, Ken was known for his exceptional skill and work ethic.

An outgoing and funny man, Ken had a gift for conversation and storytelling that drew people in and brought joy to those around him. He found happiness in simple pleasures, whether it was woodworking and building furniture, cheering on his beloved Packers and Brewers, or spending quality time fishing with family at their cottage. One of Ken’s greatest accomplishments was building a cottage in Hazelhurst with family and friends, which became his cherished home after retirement.  There, he crafted numerous unforgettable moments with his grandchildren, each of whom caught their first fish with him—a trophy that he proudly mounted on the wall at the cottage as a testament to those precious outings.

Ken also enjoyed the art of winemaking, the excitement of “Snowshoe Baseball” at Lake Tomahawk, WWE Wrestling, and Westerns, finding joy in each of these beloved pastimes.  His adventurous spirit and creativity were evident in all he did, leaving a lasting impression on family and friends alike.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Cheryl Utecht, and his devoted children: Tammy (Randy) Deer, Lucas (Sara) Utecht, and Heather (Jared) Grusznski. Ken's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Renee (Brandon), Jared (Jessica), Tressa (Matt), Coen, Anna, Jude, and Adelynn, as well as his great-grandchildren, Blake, Jayden, Maci Kay, Lenny, and Lance.  Ken is also survived by his beloved dog, Jackson, who was his faithful companion and chocolate chip cookie buddy.

As we remember Ken's vibrant spirit and the joy he brought into our lives, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Weston, at 4:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service.

Ken's departure leaves a void that will be felt deeply, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Court at Eden Vista, especially Liz, Breanna and Tom and St Croix Hospice, mainly Traci and Christin for the love and care they gave to Ken and his entire family.
