"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" 2 Timothy 4:7
Kenneth J Weidman, 86 years old, of
Brooksville, FL, is now in the presence of his Savior the LORD Jesus Christ. Kenneth died peacefully in Hospice care with his family by his side, on July 5, 2025.
Ken grew up on a farm in Voorheesville, NY and spent enjoyable summers in Gallupville, NY with his grandparents and his cousins. Kenneth met his wife, Edna Mae Teal while they were both working for New York State in Albany, NY. They married in October 1960 and went on to have two daughters, Dawn and Doreen.
Ken settled his eternity on July 13, 1963, when he accepted Christ as his personal Savior while stationed with the Army at Fort Carson. He served in the US Army and the Army of the LORD. God called him into the ministry, and he attended Bible school at Elohim Bible Institute, Castile, NY, class of 1974, and Bible Truth Institute, Sunbury, PA, class of 1976. He graduated as a Valedictorian of both classes, was heavily involved in outreach ministry, church planting and taught classes as well. Kenneth was ordained in 1977. Pastor Ken was involved in church planting at Bible Baptist Church, Trout Run, PA and Fundamental Bible Church, Curwensville, PA, Calvary Baptist Church, Watervliet, NY, and Cornerstone Baptist Church, Voorheesville, NY. All while being a full-time student and/or working full-time. When in New York state, he worked as a civilian and as a reservist for the Army in a mobile medical unit in Albany, NY. He also served as a full-time Pastor at Landmark Baptist Church, Berlin, NY. When he "retired" and moved to Florida for Edna's health, he kept involved in his local church and led church services at Three Seasons Mobile Home Park, and Old Time Bible Church at Brookridge Park,
Brooksville, FL. Pastor Ken loved his Lord and his people; if he knew you, he prayed for you. There is a long list in the cover of his Bible of souls he led to Christ, baptized, people he counseled and couples he counseled in marriage and married.
In addition to being a devoted and loving husband and father, Ken enjoyed a good basketball game, either watching or playing on the court. He would go hunting every chance he got because he enjoyed spending time in the quiet of the woods. He was very musically talented; he sang and played the piano, guitar, and harmonica by ear. His mornings started with a good cup of strong coffee and a great day ended with chocolate ice cream.
Ken is reunited in Heaven with his dear wife, Edna Mae, whom he loved dearly and took care of for many years. He is predeceased by his sister Sally Horlacher, his son-in-law John Mertz, and granddaughter Sarah Mertz. He is survived by his loving daughters, Dawn Mertz and Doreen Williams and her husband Gary, and his grandchildren, John, Elizabeth, Rachel, Ever, and Derrick. As he wished, the funeral service will be held at Bushnell National Cemetery with military honors.
