SO.YARMOUTH/SPENCER: Kenneth (Kenny) J. Zalauskas, 70, passed away at home on September 13 after a very courageous 12-year battle with lung cancer, with his wife and close friends by his side. Kenny was born in Worcester, raised in Spencer and lived there until moving to South Yarmouth in 2012. He loved living on the Cape, but he always enjoyed his trips back to Spencer.
Kenny worked as a service technician for National Grid Gas for 30 years serving the Spencer, Brookfield and Leicester areas. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and the Caribbean islands, playing cards, especially cribbage, pitch and Uno, listening to music, gardening, spending time with his family, and a cold Bud Light! Kenny was a long-time member of the Spencer Fish & Game Club, and in his earlier years was a volunteer, Spencer Fireman. While living on the Cape, Kenny volunteered at the Yarmouth Food Pantry. He enjoyed following the New England Patriots and other New England sports teams.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna (Davis) Zalauskas. Kenny, one of eight children, is also survived by his mother, Pauline Zalauskas, and his four sisters; Mary Gallant (Michael), Patricia Graves (Joseph), Paula Stafinski (Robert), Christine Rogan (Kevin) and sisters-in-law, Joan Binford, Linda Zalauskas and Dorinda Zalauskas. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many close friends that he loved dearly. Family and close friends were everything to Kenny and he cherished family gatherings and also spending time with his close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Zalauskas, Sr., and brothers, Donald Zalauskas, Jr., Anthony Zalauskas and Matthew Zalauskas.
A calling hour will be held in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer on Friday, September 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations may be made in his memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
