Kenny "Mouse" Nelson entered into his heavenly home on the early morning of Tuesday, August 26, 2025 while at his home in Delbarton, West Virginia. He was born on September 27, 1956 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to William and Shirley Nelson. He is preceded in death by his father, William Nelson, his brother, Alvin Nelson, and his sister, Brenda Nelson Castle. Kenny spent over 40 years of his life working in the mining industry, most of those years at Coal Mac, where he later retired. He was a dedicated UK fan and absolutely loved his 2012 Camaro, which he nicknamed "Baby". He was fun, loving, and had the best personality overall. Kenny was a 3 year long member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry. He will be dearly missed. He leaves behind his the love of his life and best friend of 18 years, Trish (Belcher) Nelson, his step-sons, Drake (Alyssa) Caudill of Carmi, IL and Seth (Brandi) Caudill of St. Albans, WV, his brother, Rodney Nelson of Prestonsburg, KY, his brothers-in-law, Dickie (Sabrina) Belcher, Glen (Judy) Belcher, and Jerry (Kathy) Belcher, and his loving 7 grandchildren, Timothy, Zoe, Genesis, Jonathan, Clark, Dalton, and Wade. Services for Kenny will be held at Chafin Funeral Home in Delbarton, West Virginia. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be on Friday, August 29, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM with burial to follow at the Ooten Cemetery in Trace Creek, West Virginia. Officiating the services will be Rev. Scott Erwin and Rev. Nick Hall. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Doug Stumbo, who was like a son to him, and the church lunch crew, who has always been there. Chafin Funeral Home is proudly serving the family.
