Kenny Plessel

A Memorial Service for Kenny Plessel, age 84, of O'Neill will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 24, 2025 at the O'Neill Methodist Church in O'Neill. Burial will be at a later time in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, north of O'Neill. Memorial Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill with a 7 pm Prayer Service. Kenny passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Arbor Care Center in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill.
Kenneth Plessel was born April 16, 1940 in O'Neill, Nebraska to Roy and Gladys (Abbott) Plessel. Kenny grew up near the Stone Windmill before his family moved into O'Neill when he was 7. He attended O'Neill Public School through the eighth grade.
After school, he worked in the hay field for a couple summers for the Shaffer Ranch, then went to work for Melvin Marcellus' Tractor Dealership. Kenny married Patricia Lewis on April 23, 1961 at the Methodist Church in O'Neill, Nebraska. To this union seven kids were born. Kenny then went to work for Sorensen's Chrysler in O'Neill for around 20 years. He then worked for Bauer Hedlund Ford for 20 years until his diabetes took his sight in one eye. He retired in 2002. After retiring the couple enjoyed traveling, especially to the Grand Canyon, Montana, including Glacier National Park, and the Black Hills.
Kenny enjoyed playing the harmonica and the guitar, listening to country music, and watching Western movies. He also enjoyed working on and talking about cars, going for drives, going on walks, going fishing, and playing pitch with his friends and family.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patty Plessel of O'Neill; his children, Mike Plessel of Atkinson, Ron (Casey) Plessel of Beatrice, Tim Plessel of O'Neill, Rich (Stacy) Plessel of Beatrice, Steve Plessel of Battle Creek, Jerry Plessel of Lincoln, Amy (Eric) Gnewuch of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren, Dena (Seth) Conyer, Levi Plessel, Linzy Plessel, Megan (Caleb) Rice, Avery Plessel, Kendall Plessel, Hayley Plessel, Erin Plessel, Tristan Plessel, Samantha Plessel, Micah Gnewuch, Bethany Gnewuch; six great grandchildren; his brother, Gary (Judy) Plessel of California; a brother-in-law, Butch Read of O'Neill; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his eight siblings, John (Mavis) Plessel, Mary Grunke, Franklin Plessel, Evelyn (Bob) Oberg, Stanley Plessel, Marilyn (Jerome) Howard, Bonnie Plessel, and Connie Read.
