Kent Horrell Obituary

Kent David Horrell, 64, of Washington Township, passed away unexpectedly after a hunting accident on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, in AHN-Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born Dec. 21, 1960, in Natrona Heights, he was a son of the late Jack U. Horrell and Loraine G. (Hegger) Horrell. Kent was a graduate of Kiski Area High School. He first worked part-time in carpentry and roofing and was then employed as an electrician at Dominion Transmission in Jeannette, a position he held for over 30 years until his retirement in 2015. Kent was a devout member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo. He deeply loved his wife, family, friends, and his church. Kent was known for his quick wit and even quicker grin. He was a self-made man, the family's "go-to guy and Mr. Fix-it", and would be there to help anyone. Kent was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, and deer food plotter. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Willowbrook Golf League. In addition to his parents, Kent was preceded in death by his brother, Jason Horrell; and his nephew, Jessie Hartzell. Kent is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda M. (Francheski) Horrell; daughter, Kelly (Wes) South; son, Mitch Horrell; grandson, Blake; siblings, Mark (Maureen) Horrell of Celina, OH, Lynn Horrell of Allegheny Township, Faith (Donald) Evans of Washington Township, Gregg (Michele) Horrell of Kiski Township, Jeff Horrell of North Apollo, Beth (Jim) Riggin of Spring Church, and Ann (Scott) Getty of Washington Township; brother-in-law, David (Nancy) Francheski and their daughter, Hannah; as well as nieces and nephews. Kent was the absolute best husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a hero to his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, in CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 109 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613, with Father John Euker as celebrant. Private interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. Memorial contributions may be made in Kent's memory to St. James Roman Catholic Church at the above listed address.
