Kent Ricketts

Kent Ricketts, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.
Per the wishes of Kent and his family, cremation rites have been accorded and a visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to continue the celebration of life at the Old Timer following the visitation. Kent was born on November 15, 1953 to parents Kenneth and Elizabeth (Freeseman) Ricketts. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1972, he went on to play football at Marshalltown Community College. Hardworking and dedicated, he worked several jobs over the years including for his dad's truck stop and the railroad. He was best-known as the "grumpy guy down at Ben's Tires," where he worked for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed staying active: playing softball, bowling, competitive shooting and boating. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa State Cyclones and NASCAR. More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Left to cherish his memory is his brother-in-law, Jerry Graw of Marshalltown; his niece and nephews: Stacy (Kevin) O'Hare of Marshalltown, Jeff Graw of Marshalltown, Matt (Gina) Graw of Ankeny and Rick Graw of Marshalltown and several great-nieces and great-nephews: McKaylee, Nathan, Brandon, Caroline, Colleen, Mitch, Bennett, Ryker, Kyzer and Emersyn.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth; his sister, Gwen Graw and his dog, Sammy.
