Kent S Wright,73, husband, dad, grandpa and all-around great man passed away on February 6, 2025, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City Utah. He was born September 21, 1951, in Ogden Utah to Stanley T and Ruth Fisher Wright.

Kent was a member of the 1st Presbyterian church and did achieve the rank of Eagle Scout during his high school years. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1969 and joined the United States Navy (USN) in 1971. He served 2 years of active duty with the USN and 4 years of reserve duty.

When he returned from serving overseas during the Vietnam War, he married the love of his life, Marlene Campbell in 1973.

He began his higher education journey and went on to graduate from Weber State University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned a Masters of business degree.

He began his work career at Hill Air Force Base as a Firefighter EMT and later a Contract Negotiator. One of the highlights of his civilian Air Force career was living for 2 years in the Washington DC area supporting the military and Air Force One.

Kent enjoyed all the things that life has to offer like traveling with his wife, camping trips with his kids, and the annual deer hunt with his son, son-in-law, and grandsons. His absolute-pastime passion was flying an airplane. He began flying in 1980 and eventually earned the title of certified flight instructor. He volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue and performed many missions helping to locate lost aircraft, people, and training future pilots. He owned several airplanes over the years but building his own plane with the help and advice of his aviation friends was one his ultimate accomplishments. The annual trip to the Oshkosh Fly-In with the best friends a man could ever have was a must do every year.

Kent is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, Shane (Christina) Wright; daughter, Stacy (Andrew) Wagner; grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Wright, Skyler and Jordan Wright, Kylie Collins, Josh Wagner, Cole Wagner, Trek and Kalie McDowell and Kyra McDowell; great grandchildren, Peyton, Emory, Archer and Ava. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Wright Morris and many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Ruth Wright; grandson, Trenton Wagner; and grandson, Preston Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
