Kermit Gene McGregor Kermit Gene McGregor, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 3. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Kermit was a twin son born to James Howard and Martha Creed McGregor in Conway Springs, Kansas. He retired from Boeing Aircraft Company after 33 years where he worked as a tool and die maker, with his last thirteen years in management.
Kermit was fondly known as "Mr. Tomato" by many who knew him as the friend and neighbor who had at least 49 tomato plants growing in his backyard. He often sold his tomatoes using the "honor system" or gave the tomatoes away. Many would say, "these are the best tomatoes I have ever eaten."
In 1956 he met and married Barbara Ann Cokely. They had three children. Kermit is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his twin brother Kenneth. He is survived by his daughter Debra (Mitch) Pence of Kanas City, son Wesley (Jodi) of Wichita and daughter Sharon (Bob) Huntley of Derby. Three grandchildren Dustin (Krystal) Pence, Melissa (Trent) Pulver and Matt (Jenna) Pence and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Marlene (Ted) Pendleton of Encinitas, California and sister-in-law Jean McGregor of Goddard, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Derby Church of the Nazarene 840 N. Woodlawn, Derby, Kansas 67037. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at El Paso Cemetery, Derby, Kansas.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Prime Timers, c/o Derby Church of the Nazarene, 840 N Woodlawn Blvd, Derby, KS 67037.
