Kerrie Butler Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 7, 2024.
Kerrie Lynne Butler
Of Rolling Meadows, Illinois
Kerrie Lynne Butler peacefully passed away at her home on April 5, 2024 in Rolling Meadows, Illinois surrounded by her loving husband and children after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born on September 29,1954 in Denver, Colorado to John and Afton Sorenson.
Kerrie was raised in a loving home in suburban Chicago where she and David Butler grew up as childhood friends and later fell in love. Kerrie and David were married and sealed for time and all eternity on April 26, 1977 in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which she was a member and served as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ throughout her life.
Kerrie and David attended Brigham Young University together where she graduated with an Associate of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Development and Family Relations. She enjoyed spending some of her free time skiing together with David in the Utah mountains.
Kerrie was a loving and dedicated mother raising six children, yet she found time to faithfully serve in many church service assignments including thirteen years as the stake Relief Society President. She grew deep friendships with those she selflessly served. Kerrie was the eternal optimist sharing happiness, humor, hope, and love, especially with her family. She found great joy in family history research and performing work on her ancestors' behalf in the temple. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loving husband of forty-seven years, six children and spouses, and nineteen grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband David Butler, her daughter Laura (Roy) Gedeborg and their children Aaron, Evan, Isaac, and Caleb; her son Ryan (Christine) Butler and their children Emma, Katie, Ruby, Sam, and Jack; her son Mark (Laura) Butler and their children James, Owen, Adam, and Melanie; her daughter Kara (Dylan) Randall and their children William, Henry, Ellie, and Vivienne; her son Neal (Danielle) Butler and their children Olivia and Wesley; and her son Erik (Gretchen) Butler.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings J. Leon Sorenson and Carol Anne Somerville.
Although Kerrie has left this mortal life, her legacy lives on through her beloved family and friends. Her influence and impact will never be diminished or pass away, but rather be an eternal and unending force for good until we are all reunited once again.
