Stephen Kane

Stephen Michael Kane of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully on March, 11th 2026 at age 76. He was born in Cleveland, OH on February 6, 1950 to Eugene and Kathryn Kane. He studied at University of Rochester, and University of Chicago, then worked in advertising where he shone as a man of wit and humor. One of his proudest accomplishments was creating Chester Cheetah, leaving his permanent mark on the world. Stephen enjoyed reading works both classic and modern, attending musicals and delicious meals, and had a love of UConn women's basketball. He is remembered for his hilarity and intellect, a constant performer on the stage of life. He is preceded in death by his creative heroes, William Shakespeare and Stephen Sondheim. He is survived by his children, Malcolm and Miranda, their mother, Nicole, and his siblings, Tony, Susan, and Peter.
