KERRY DODSON Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stuart Mortuary, Inc. - Indianapolis on Mar. 13, 2026.
Kerry L. Dodson, a devoted woman of faith, loving mother, grandmother, and servant of God, peacefully transitioned from this life on March 8, 2026, at the age of 76.
Kerry was born on September 24, 1949, to the late Robert L. Brinkley and Cora L. Brinkley. She was raised in a family filled with love and strong values, growing up alongside her siblings: Anthony Brinkley, Roger (Carmilla) Brinkley, Irene Wright, and her beloved twin brother Kent Brinkley, who preceded her in death, as well as Lars Eric Brinkley and Donna (William) Bradford, who also preceded her in death.
At an early age, Kerry gave her life to Christ and remained steadfast in her devotion to God throughout her life. Her faith was the foundation of who she was, guiding her actions, her service, and the many lives she touched along the way.
Kerry was united in marriage to Tegarrett Dodson, who preceded her in death. Together they built a legacy of faith and family that continues through generations.
She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Kevin L. Dodson (Michelle) of Loganville, Georgia. One of the greatest joys of her life was being a grandmother to her four cherished grandchildren: Dezmond Dodson, Cierra Van, Mackenzie Dodson, and Kaleb Dodson, each of whom she loved dearly and held close to her heart.
Kerry was also blessed to see the beginning of a new generation in her family. She leaves behind her beloved great-grandson, Octavious DuBoise-Dodson, the son of her grandson Dezmond Dodson, and she joyfully anticipated the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Serenity, expected by her granddaughter Cierra Van.
Kerry dedicated many years of professional service before retiring from AT&T and later from the Indianapolis Star News. In addition to her professional career, she faithfully served the church community in many capacities. She worked as a church secretary for several congregations, including Christ Church Apostolic and Greater Love Ministries, where she was known for her commitment, humility, and servant's heart.
Her greatest passion, however, was ministry. Kerry founded and operated "The Fruits of the Spirit Ministries," through which she devoted herself to prison ministry, serving the homeless, and mentoring young women who needed encouragement, guidance, and spiritual support. Her ministry reflected her deep compassion and her unwavering desire to help others experience the love and hope found in Christ.
Kerry also had a deep love for worship and music. She used her gift of song to uplift others, serving faithfully as both a pastor and a music minister within her church community. Through her voice, her leadership, and her example, she inspired many to draw closer to God.
Those who knew Kerry will remember her as a woman of unwavering faith, compassion, and generosity. She loved God with all her heart and soul, and she lived her life in service to Him and to others.
Her legacy of faith, service, and love will live on through her family, her ministry, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
