Kerry McCarthy, 85, passed away on January 29, 2026 at Phoebe Richland Health Center in Richlandtown, PA. She was born in Allentown, PA and graduated from William Allen High School in 1957.
Kerry worked as an advertising artist for Hess’s and was a graphics artist for Maches and Taylor Advertising. In 1978 she began working as a free lance graphic designer for Reuben H. Donnelley Yellow Pages, which later became Yellow Book.
Kerry was blessed with great faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena since 1960. She tried to follow His teachings and live her life through involvement in church community , taught catechism, was active in the Cursillo movement and parish retreat programs, and facilitated support groups for the separated and divorced.
Her favorite activities included ballroom dancing, visiting with her kids, and entertaining friends with dinner parties.
Kerry was married to Alfred Hertzog for 28 years and widowed by Lawrence Nuesslein to whom she was married for 12 years.
She is survived by Richard McCarthy, her husband of 19 years, her son Scott Hertzog of Miami, FL, daughters Maura Hertzog of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Deanna Pittman or Malvern, PA; half brother Warren Wilvert of Woodbridge, VA, and half sister Pam Atchison of Dover, DE; step children Rick McCarthy of Mooresville, NC, Mary Karol Matchett of Rochester, NY, Larry Nuesslein III of Bar Harbor, ME, and Nicole Hodge of Tustin, CA:, and 10 step grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Phoebe Ministries.
