Charles J. Gergits, Sr., 82, of Allentown, passed away on December 12, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township, PA. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Franklyn Robert and Rose Agnes (Fisher) Gergits. Chuck was the devoted husband of Elizabeth I. (Green) Gergits, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was a proud 1961 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School (ACCHS).
A man of deep faith, Chuck was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena Church, where he served as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, sang joyfully with the Cathedral Choir, and contributed his time and wisdom as a member of the Parish Council for ten years. He also participated in the Allentown Cursillo movement, completing his second Cursillo weekend, which strengthened his spiritual journey.
Chuck was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus with Council #14397 at the Cathedral in Allentown, embodying the values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. He also gave back to his community as an advisor for the Boy Scout Explorer Post #74, guiding young people with patience and encouragement.
He retired from Kraft Foods, where he was the Transport Supervisor for many years. Those who worked with him remembered his hard work and dedication to his team. After retirement, he joined O'Brien's Really Good Food, where he enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his fellow workers.
Beyond his service and faith, Chuck found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, cherishing time spent in nature and with family and friends. He always looked forward to his annual trip to Lake Beverly in Canada where he enjoyed days and campfires with countless members of his extended family.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his steadfast faith, and his generous spirit.
