Kevin James Absher, 51, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Northwest Health-Porter.
He was born on August 7, 1973, in Las Cruces, NM, to James and Sally (Apodaca) Absher.
Kevin is survived by his 2 beautiful daughters, Jasmyne Absher of Fort Worth, TX and Angel Absher of Las Cruces, NM; parents, James (Sally) Absher of La Porte; his love, Carrie Flores of Valparaiso; sister, Kimberly Absher of Michigan City; his niece, Ashley Moser; close cousins, Matthew and Javier Gutierrez; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Kansas City, KS, Texas, and New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lalo (Margaret) Apodaca, Lloyd Absher, and Bea Webb.
Kevin was a Dept. of Corrections Officer for nearly 28 years at the Westville Correctional Facility. He enjoyed watching Cubs baseball and all football, barbecuing, and had impeccable taste as a true cologne connoisseur. Most importantly, Kevin enjoyed time with his family.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A time of visitation will be held from 9 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Stephen Lehman officiating and an Honor Guard by the Correctional Facility.
