Mr. Kevin Epperson

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Kevin Shawn Epperson, one of 12 children and the baby of the family, was born on July 25, 1964, in Kansas City, MO to the union of Harold Epperson Sr. and Lenora Epperson. He gained his heavenly wings on Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Kevin was proceeded in death by both parents, his stepfather, Calvin Wynn, his father-in-love, Ira Lee Johnson, 4 sisters (Emma McClunie, Felicia McAfee, Paula Wynn and Lynn Epperson) 4 brothers (Donnie Epperson, Doc Wynn, Tracy Epperson and Harold Epperson Jr.) and as well as four nieces and two nephews.
Kevin was educated in the Kansas City, MO public schools, attending Sanford B. Ladd Elementary, Central Jr. and Central Sr. High School, from which he graduated in 1982.
Kevin accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and as a child, attended the Metropolitan AME Zion Church, where he was baptized. Before his illness, Kevin regularly attended Concorde Fortress of Hope, stating how much he enjoyed Pastor Lindsey's message and his warm embrace whenever he saw him.
He leaves to cherish his life and his memory his partner, Jackie Prelow, his brother, Reginald Epperson Sr. of Raytown; seven sisters, Gracie Cooper of Raytown, Marietta Epperson of Grandview, Josanda Hart, Stephanie Wynn, Theresa Ray and Ann Saunders, all of Kansas City and Yolanda Wyatt of Grain Valley; his mothers and father- in-love Earnestine Johnson, Maurice and Ruby Prelow.
Although Kevin had no biological children, he had what has fondly been referred to as "bonus" children, DeJonne, Daniel and MJ. He will be missed by a host of 37 nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends who loved him.
Kevin had so much pride and love for his "family". He often said that "Mother told him to take care of the family" and he sought to do just that until shortly before his death. It is said that: "One person with passion is better than 40 people with mere interest". This was Kevin. There was so much that he wanted to accomplish, that his body and circumstance did not allow. His greatest accomplishment, however, was his love and devotion to those he called family---this he was passionate about.
Funeral services Thursday, January 16, 2025, 12:00pm at Watkins Heritage Chapel. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00am-12:00pm at the chapel. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
