Kevin Ray Hagglund, 23, of Crystal Falls, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2025.
He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on March 4, 2001, the son of Ray and Terri Hagglund.
Kevin graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 2020 with high honors. After high school, Kevin went to Advanced Welding Institute in Eagle River, Wisconsin. He worked in Cambridge, Minnesota, as a welder at Arrow Tank & Engineering, but his heart was in the UP, so he returned and worked at the Miller Pipeline and then at the Niagara Fabrication. He recently was working for Tall Pines in Amasa until his knee was healed, then he was going to join the Sheet Metal Union.
He was a sensitive and caring young man and he loved his family and friends, along with his cats, Gabby and Freddie, and his dogs, Buddy and Lincoln. He never let an opportunity for a big hug to go by. Kevin would drop everything to play a game of smear, and he was just getting the hang of playing cribbage.
Kevin enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, jeeping, camping, swimming, ice fishing, welding, and hunting, especially for birds.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Ray and Terri Hagglund; his brother, Roy Hagglund (Maggie Zeh); grandfather, Don Benzie; great uncle Bob and Jane Menghini; uncles and aunts, Mike and Lynn Webb, Turk and Mary Jean Thoreson, Robin Hagglund, John and Julie Benzie, John and Deb Gallino; cousins, Michael (Heather), David, Patrick, Jill (Casey), Jeffrey (Sarah), Jenny (Glen), Catherine (Paul), Carlee (Joe), Katie (Mike), and Jeff (Ellary); many treasured cousins and family and his loyal friends, James and Obe's, whom he considered family.
Because of Kevin's wishes, 75 people will benefit from his organ and tissue donation through the Gift of Life Michigan out of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lou Jean Hagglund and Elizabeth Benzie; his grandfather, Roy Hagglund; his uncle, Eric Hagglund; and his aunt, Patricia Hagglund.
As a family we are heartbroken and devastated by the loss of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. We hope that the wonderful memories we have of his awesome smile, particular mannerisms, voice, and laugh will somehow carry us through this incredible pain.
Family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Christ United Methodist Church in Crystal Falls. A service will follow at 12:00 pm at the church. Pastor Vicky Prewitt will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the VFW after the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Kevin's memory.
Condolences to the family of Kevin may be expressed online at www.nashfuneralhome.net.
The family has entrusted Nash Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Crystal Falls with the arrangements.
