Kevin K. Hayes

Kevin Keith Hayes was born in Trenton, New Jersey, July 20, 1967 to Priscilla and James Edward Hayes Sr. The youngest of five sons, he was affectionately known in the neighborhood as "Pop pop". Aptly named, Kevin started his drumming career at the age of 5 by pulling all of his mom's pots out of the cupboard to practice honing his skill. Pop, pop. pop, popl
By the time he graduated Willingboro High School, Kevin was well known by his awesome performances in the High School's Jazz Band. All family members musically talented, Kevin was master on the drums. His skill surprised those who did not know him well, as it did not match his quiet smile and modest demeanor. Kevin was an inspiration and mentor to countless aspiring young drummers.
Always wanting to be near family, Kevin worked many jobs with his brother Kenny including BJ's, a major food distributor. Later he went to work with his father at Simon and Schuster Publishing.
Kevin briefly left New Jersey to come live with his older brother Kenny and his family in Seattle There he played for Faith Deliverance Assembly Church with his oldest brother James. The saints were quickly won over by their talent and playful nature. Homesick for New Jersey and his church home, Trenton Church, he made his way back to Jersey. Kevin made lifelong friends and admirers in Washington and will always be considered a part of the FDA Church Family
Family was important to Kevin. He loved his family deeply but especially his mom. Every one knew when they saw Mother Hayes, they saw Kevin...ften times Norman but ALWAYS Kevin her galivanting partner,
This loss is felt deeply by his natural family, his Trenton Church Family and he will forever be in our hearts. Kevin is preceded in death by his father James Edward Hayes Sr.
Kevin's memory will be cherished by his loving Mother Priscilla Hayes, his four brothers, James Hayes Jr. Kenneth Hayes Sr. (Melodi Hayes), Wayne Hayes (Betty Hayes), and Norman Hayes He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephews, Jeremy Hayes Sr. Britney Hayes) Ashley Cunningham, Erica Baskerville, Samantha Eaton, Mercedes Hayes, Kenneth Hayes Jr.. Phaedre Harvell, Khalil Weston, Nevaeh Cheeks, Tobias Cunningham, Janiah Hayes, Paityn George Eaton, Raiatea Hayes, Jeremy Hayes Jr., Dakota Hayes, Tiana Hayes, Britany Harvell, James Harvell, and Serenity Hamling-Weston
Funeral service will be 12pm Friday, March 28, 2025 at Grace Cathedral Fellowship Ministries Church, 1217 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ 08618. Calling hours will be 10am until time of service. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, NJ.
