CARBONDALE – Kevin Michael Herron, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Kevin was born on July 26, 1952 to Robert W. and Sylvia E. (Greer) Herron in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Kevin is survived by his children, Paul Herron, Whitney Herron, Lucas Herron, and Kelly Herron, grandchildren Dalton, Lili, Brayden, Lana, and Kai, brothers Brian (Martha) Herron and Sean (Tracey) Herron, and sister Kathleen (Gary) Sisk.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kevin’s family moved to Murphysboro in 1957 and he attended Saint Andrew Catholic School. Later the family moved to Carbondale. Kevin was on the wrestling team and graduated from Carbondale High School in 1970. He spent his younger years riding his Triumph motorcycle, playing softball, and spending time with his friends. Some of his best memories were fishing with his brother when they were kids and trips to Canada as adults. He was a die-hard Cardinals fan and longtime member of the UA Plumbers and Pipefitters #160.
Kevin was strong, kind man of principles with an infectious sense of humor who always put his family first. Most of all he was a Dad. There were so many different versions of him, yet he always seemed to know exactly which was needed at that time. Not just for his own kids, but for the countless others he had the pleasure of helping along his way.
