Kevin Patrick Huffman, 60, of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away on December 29, 2023. Born on March 18, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, Kevin was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his partner, Patrick Nebel. He is survived by his aunt Reva Misch, his aunt Sally Huffman, his cousin Carol Hobart and many other first and second cousins, in-laws and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Huffman, his mother, Charleen Huffman Cavanaugh, and his brother, David Huffman.
Kevin had many fulfilling careers, including working as an ER Technician at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, as well as at EDS Computer Systems in Warren and American Fellowship Insurance in Southfield. In recent years he was forced to retire due to medical issues. He remained active in the community and volunteered at various agencies. Most of all he loved sitting on the porch chatting with anyone and everyone who would walk by.
Outside of work, Kevin had a passion for painting, filling his house with many projects as he improved in his craft. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He lived by the philosophy that his loud yells at the TV could be heard all the way to Ford Field. He loved entertaining, whether serving big holiday meals, hosting parties, or organizing the neighbors to hand out Halloween candy as a group. He also found joy in being the caretaker of Ms. Rufus, his cherished companion. He never missed a chance to greet any pet he met. He was a friend to Jasmine, Spike, Link, Toby, Gracie, Ginger, and all the pets of the neighborhood. Kevin was especially proud of the work he did as a Volunteer for the Center Line Fire Department, always ready to lend a helping hand to his community.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm, followed by a memorial service at 7pm, at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home, located at 2125 Twelve Mile Rd, Berkley, MI 48072.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Royal Oak Animal Shelter. Donations can be made online at Royal Oak Animal Shelter (https://royaloakcivicfoundation.org/donate-royal-oak-501c3/royal-oak-animal-shelter/#donateform).
Kevin's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
