Kevin Hurder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Dec. 13, 2025.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kevin Hurder, a devoted father, proud grandfather, and lifelong iron worker, who left this world far too soon after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.
Born with a strong back and an even stronger heart, Kevin spent his life building the world around him-one beam, one weld, one long day at a time. He took immense pride in his craft, and his dedication showed in every structure he helped raise. To him, iron work wasn't just a job; it was a calling and a legacy of strength that he carried throughout his life.
Beyond his unmatched work ethic, Kevin was a man of passion and purpose. A true car enthusiast, he found joy and peace under the hood or behind the wheel of his beloved Fireball 700 Camaro. That car was more than a hobby-it was a reflection of his spirit: bold, driven, and full of life.
More than anything, Kevin was a loving father to his daughter, Deserae Hurder, and a proud father-in-law to Marshall Powell. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Tristan Powell, whose laughter and love brought him happiness beyond words. He leaves behind a foundation of love, strength, and devotion that will carry his family forward.
Kevin is survived by his daughter Deserae, son-in-law Marshall, and grandson Tristan; his sister Yvonne Barton; his nephews Corey Barton and Donovan Waters; his brother David Hurder; and many more family members and dear friends who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Willie and Millie Methot; his mother Yvonne Hay (Methot); his younger brother Steve Hurder; his aunt Laura; his uncle Eugene; and his favorite cousin Jimmy, along with many other family members and friends he deeply missed.
Those who knew Kevin will remember his honesty, his humor, his grit, and the quiet way he showed his love-always ready to help, always working hard for those he cared about. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his legacy will live on in every story told, every engine revved, and every beam he helped raise.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. May he rest in peace-forever remembered and forever missed.
