Mary "Susie" Connor

Mary Susan "Susie" Connor, 81, passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 8, 2025, with her family by her side. Born on June 20, 1944, Susie faced the challenges of vascular dementia with strength, humor, and resilience.
Susie was the life of every gathering-quick to laugh, quick to make others laugh, and always ready with a joke or playful remark. Her sense of humor was so natural that in the early stages of her illness, her family often couldn't tell whether she had truly forgotten something or was simply being funny. Even as dementia progressed, her joyful spirit remained. She continued to love playing games, and in her final years, treasured rounds of Go Fish and Old Maid became cherished moments her grandchildren will carry with them forever.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kim Hughes and her husband Fletcher, Kelly Orr and her husband Stephen, and Kasey Zabonik and her husband Curtis. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to her grandchildren and their spouses: Keylee Marble, Aaron and Heather Orr, Tony and Sharon Hughes, Christina and Simon Huff, Amanda Hughes, Dylan and Lynia Farris, Cory and Sarah Hughes, Kaytlan Zabonik, and Karmyn Zabonik. She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren-James, Kierstalyn, and her husband Josh, Ryder, Karisma, Leona, Austin, Juniper, Jayce, Monroe, Elowyn, Dean, Faye, Diana, Drew, and Jorah- and her two great-great-grandchildren, Luna and Penelope.
Susie is also survived by her brother-in-law, Sid Connor, and his wife, Chris; as well as her nieces and nephew and their families: Kylee Connor, Kole Connor, Becky Carlton, and Jimmy Vonier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lane and Alta Glasgow; her husband, Tarrance Connor; sister, Nancy Vonier and her granddaughter, Alyssa Orr.
Her family will hold a Celebration of her life in June before laying her ashes to rest beside her husband in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Susie's legacy lives on in the laughter she shared, the memories she created, and the generations of family who loved her beyond measure. She will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear.
