Kevin Kenny, beloved longtime resident of Barrington, IL, passed away unexpectedly at home in Lake Barrington on July 4, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on January 26, 1955, in Cicero, IL, to William and Carole Kenny, Kevin brought warmth, creativity, and compassion to every life he touched.
A gifted hair stylist, Kevin dedicated 50 years to his craft serving the Barrington community. Often feeling that he had “styled almost everyone in Barrington at one time or another.”His salon chair was more than a place for haircuts; it was a place for conversation, connection, and care. He had a great love and dedication to his clients.
Kevin’s love extended far beyond people. He was a lifelong advocate for animal rights and devoted much of his heart and home to the care of rescue dogs. Over the years, he proudly welcomed nine rescue pups into his life, each one cherished and adored.
Kevin’s compassion and kindness knew no bounds—whether through his scissors or his selflessness.
On July 3, 2011, Kevin married the love of his life, Tim Frain, on the shores of Bangs Lake. Their union was a celebration of enduring love, shared values, and deep connection—one that brought Kevin great joy and fulfillment.
He will be remembered for his dedication, his deep love for animals, and the lasting friendships he built in the community he so proudly called home.
In addition to his husband, Kevin will be deeply missed by his sister, Karen (Jerry) Crowe, his nephews, Ryan and Mark Crowe and by many loving friends and extended family.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, William and Carole.
A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 5 PM – 8 PM at The Lodge at Lake Barrington Shores, 24268 Rte. 59, Lake Barrington. Guests must go through the main gate on Rte. 59 where you will be given further directions.
