Kevin Edward Maher, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on August 9, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevin carried his East Coast roots with him throughout his life, even as he built a home and community in the Midwest.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward and Joan Maher and sister Eileen. Kevin is survived by his siblings Ned Maher (Bernadette), Marty Maher (Blanca) and Joanne Hess (Curt). Along with his children, Michael, Megan, Jordan, and Kathrine Maher; his granddaughter, Myah Maher; as well as many devoted nieces and nephews who cherished their "Uncle Kevin."
A proud student of Villanova University, Kevin went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He lived with pride, loyalty, and a sense of duty that touched every aspect of his life.
Kevin will be remembered for his sharp wit, wise advice, and endless sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh and a way of offering guidance that stayed with you long after the conversation ended. He leaves behind a wide circle of lifelong friends who will deeply miss his laughter, camaraderie, and presence. Including but absolutely not limited to, Michael Bradley from St Charles grade school.
The family will hold a private service in Philadelphia, where Kevin will be laid to rest alongside his parents in their family plot.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that whenever we "bend an elbow" we always remember Kevin Maher.
