Kevin Francis McCrohan (Age 78) Col. (Ret.)

On January 9, 2023 Colonel Kevin Francis McCrohan USA (Retired), PhD, formerly of Amissville, VA, passed away in Gainesville, VA. He is survived by his children Tara and Kenneth, his beloved grandsons, and brother Kenneth McCrohan.

He was Professor Emeritus in the School of Business at George Mason University, where he taught for 35 years and served as Marketing area chair for 14. Three times he was awarded Senior Fulbright Scholarships, twice to do research and teach at the School of Management, Kathmandu University, Nepal and another at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He also served as a Chief Economist at the Internal Revenue Service.

He enlisted in the 69th Infantry Regiment in 1968, serving for 37 years primarily in the Special Forces and Special Operations community, retiring as a Full Colonel in 2004. For his service he was awarded the Legion of Merit, among many other commendations. Upon retirement he continued to serve his country as an Adjunct Research Staff Member, Institute for Defense Analysis to include consulting on force protection on location in Baghdad, Iraq in 2006.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years in 2016, by their son Sean and parents Howard Francis and Edith Mary (McGrath).

Kevin was born in Manhattan, New York City and raised in Great Neck, Long Island. He was an avid hiker and summited many peaks in North America, as well as Kilimanjaro. He was a graduate of New York University BS, Baruch College MBA, and The City University of New York PhD.
