Kevin Milkman Obituary
Published by Legacy on Jul. 19, 2025.
Kevin Earle Milkman, 70, passed away on July 14, 2025, at his home in Raphine, VA. He was surrounded by his wife, daughters, and grandchildren along with their 2 faithful dogs, Milo and Miya.
Kevin was born in Whitinsville, MA on March 12, 1955, the son of the late Theresa (LeMay) Milkman and Gordon Milkman.
Mr. Milkman led a full life spending time in California, New Mexico, Alaska and Virginia while serving his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He spent 30 years in Alaska and considered that to be his home. After leaving the Air Force, he was a lead aircraft mechanic for Northwest Airlines, Delta Airlines and Japan Airlines. He made the very hard decision to leave Alaska to live closer to his daughter and grandchildren when they moved to the lower 48.
During his lifetime, Kevin's passion was the great outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and spending evenings around the bonfire with family. In Alaska, he was a subsistence hunter and enjoyed his annual month-long moose hunt with his friends and fishing for salmon on the Kenai River. Mr. Milkman enjoyed spending his evenings watching old westerns on TV with his favorite being Gunsmoke. He was also an avid John Wayne fan watching every John Wayne movie many, many times over.
Kevin's greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved watching them grow up, play sports, perform in plays and graduate from high school. He took pride in teaching them to hunt and to fish. Many happy memories were made during evenings around the campfire or playing a rousing game of darts on Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Milkman is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol; two daughters, Katrina Meesook-Bryant of Staunton and Desiree Batten and her husband, Ros of Raphine; grandchildren: Kyra Meesook, Cyle Meesook, Brandon Batten, Kevin Batten (his namesake), Rae'jon Bryant, Carter Batten and great grandsons, Jayden Guevara and Zen Meesook. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Spezzaferro of North Eastham, MA, Amy Amaral and her husband, Bob of Sutton, MA, Ellen Agro and her husband, Mark of Mendon, MA and by his brother, David Milkman of Salisaw, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Milkman; Brian Milkman; James Milkman; Paula Jacobs and a nephew, Gregory Amaral.
The family's heartfelt thanks go out to Wendy Wyatt, his Veteran Administration RN and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the compassionate care that Kevin received and their help in making his last days more comfortable. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9th from 2 – 6 pm at Wade's Mill located at 55 Kennedy Wades Mill Loop in Raphine. Memorial contributions may be made to any Veterans' organization or to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
