Kevin Oakley Obituary

Kevin C. Oakley Sr., lovingly known as "KO", of Washington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born September 24, 1953, in Houston, he was the son of late Grace L. Price Oakley Thomas and Edward M. Oakley Jr. Kevin was married once to Lynn R. Oakley-Jackson and later divorced. He was the proud father of three sons: Kyetay Beckner of New York, Kevin "KO" Oakley Jr. (Rachel) of Washington and Kurtis C. Oakley of Norristown. He was a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren who were the light of his life: Jahlea Oakley, Amari Oakley, Geavonni Oakley and Xavior Oakley all of Washington; and Atlas Oakley and Atreus Oakley of Norristown. He is also survived by his siblings: Rodney Oakley of Houston, Charles Oakley of Canonsburg, Tina Oakley of Canonsburg and Gerondilyn "Candy" Oakley of Carnegie; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who loved him dearly. Along with his parents, he was welcomed into Heaven by his siblings: Darlene Oakley, Sheldon Thomas, Edward "Bolt" Oakley and Charmayne Gordon; his nephew, Thomas Oakley; his uncle, Chester "Dutch" Johnson; and his aunt, Bettie Johnson. Kevin was a proud graduate of Chartiers High School, Class of 1971, where he was a high honors student and wrestling champ. He later earned his degree in Business Management from Indiana University, where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity, the National Honor Society and played football for the University. In his early years, Kevin served faithfully as a deacon at Hope Baptist Church, living out his faith through service and compassion. Throughout his life, he worked in several leadership roles, including Regional Manager for Skoal Tobacco, Manager at JCPenney, and later as a dedicated truck driver. Most recently, Kevin spent his years as a beloved school bus driver, touching the lives of countless students with his warmth, humor and kind spirit. Kevin truly loved being surrounded by family. He found joy in the simple things in life: going to the park, sharing good food and enjoying laughter with those he loved most. He was known for his positivity, his steady presence, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. To his family, he was not only a father and grandfather, but a role model, a supporter, and a source of unwavering love and strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and generosity will continue to live on through his family and the many lives he touched. A memorial service to celebrate Kevin's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 15, in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner / Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. Condolences may be left by viewing the obituary at www.mcilvaine-speakman.com.

Yesterday

I remember Kevin from school days and various meetings thru life, lovely man. He came from a great family, his sisters Charmayne and Darlene were always smiling too and Grace raised a lovely family. Rest in peace Kevin,a life well lived.

Was so sad to read of Kevin's passing. I had waited on him for many many years at Walmart Pharmacy. I remember when he would bring a few rambunctious grandchildren with him and then in a blink of an eye those boys were now in their teens! I loved waiting on Kevin. He was always kind and he ALWAYS made a point to say hello even when I wasn't waiting on him. The pic in the paper is perfect and that kind smile of his will never be forgotten. The best part of my job is helping and caring for our customers and the worst part is losing them. I hope he passed peacefully and im sure he knew he was loved by so many, including me. Rest in peace Kev. Love Bernadette
