Kevin Spindler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home on Dec. 15, 2025.
Kevin Wade Spindler, 72, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at his home in Quincy, IL.
Kevin was born September 17, 1953, in Quincy, IL to John and JoAnn (Miller) Spindler.
Survivors include his brother, Henry "DeWayne" Spindler (Yvonne) of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom E. Spindler Sr.; one sister, DeDe Carter; and his grandparents, Alva and Etta Marie Miller
Kevin grew up in Quincy and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1971. His professional life was marked by dedication and expertise, as he managed the battery tech at Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling with a steadfast commitment. Kevin's work ethic and amiable nature made him a respected figure both within his workplace and in the wider community.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Kevin was a man of many passions. A die-hard Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners fan, he found joy in the thrills of baseball and the camaraderie of fellow supporters. Kevin's love for the outdoors was evident in his time spent in Washington and Alaska, where he embraced the rugged beauty of the landscape. His deep-sea fishing adventures off the Alaskan coast were not only a pursuit of leisure but also an expression of his love for nature and the thrill of the catch.
Kevin's culinary skills were no secret to those who knew him well. He was a great cook, known for his delicious chili that became a staple at family Christmas gatherings. These festive occasions were marked by his mother's veggie soup, turkey and cheese sandwiches, and Kevin's famous chili, all enjoyed amidst the laughter and love that define family traditions. His humorous Christmas sweaters and shirts were a testament to his playful spirit and his desire to bring joy to every celebration.
Above all, Kevin's role as an uncle was one he cherished deeply. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, whom he spoiled with love and attention. His generosity and affection for them knew no bounds, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.
A Graveside Service will be held at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope House.
