A few words for Kevin Thomas
Many of you know how fond of scones Kevin was. But I believe he loved my sister Lynn´s cranberry loaf as much, if not more. She would make them at least once a year, generally during the holidays and send a batch around my birthday. We would make sure to share a couple loaves with him.
He enjoyed them heated with butter.
Kevin was more than a stagehand on TNT´s Inside the NBA. He was talent. I believe his experience with WCW enabled him to put Shaquille in a "camel clutch" hold during one show´s hi jinx. Kevin performed more stunts with Shaq including pushing a 15 foot Xmas tree on top of the 300 pound -7 footer.
I knew Kevin as a bassist musician, who occasionally sat in with blues man Luther "Houserocker"Johnson at Blind Willie´s. I later found out that he was more, a drummer, whose soulful voice could also carry a tune.
I enjoyed our conversations about music, fishing and grandkids. Inspite of often advising me to slow down and not try to do everything I thought of in one night. Kevin told me that he admired my work ethic. He was always at work an hour or so early. While I often cut it close and when I was late he would call me on it.
I will miss his sense of humor.
And try in my own way to emulate his ability to connect with and maintain relationships with people.
