Kevin Watts Obituary

Visit the Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - Lawrence website to view the full obituary.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Bradley Watts, who died on September 16, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on November 16, 1963, in Greenfield, Indiana, Kevin was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend to all who knew him.

Kevin was a man who truly never met a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people and loved them genuinely for who they were. More than that, he loved sharing his interests with those around him.

Kevin enjoyed fishing of all kinds (catching a muskie with his dad and step-mom Wayne and Judy Dye), camping, grilling, smoking whatever foods he could, and exploring all kinds of music. Kevin made it a personal goal, and then lifelong friends and family tradition, to attend the Indianapolis 500, ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’ Kevin attended his first race in 1973 and began his annual pilgrimage to his coveted turn four seats with loved ones in 1987. He never missed a race and totaled 39 races up until May of 2025.

Kevin’s sense of rhythm was excellent and evident everywhere, surprisingly on drums despite no formal training. He loved jamming with his friends and children, and his family and friends will surely miss his frequent singing and whistling. Kevin was a proud trumpet player, alumnus of the Warren Central Gold Brigade, and a voracious supporter of arts and music education, never missing a performance by his children. He was known by many as a supportive band-dad.

A true dog lover, Kevin was often the culprit behind a dog's full belly, slipping them table scraps more times than not, a trait he inherited from loving parents Linda and George Watts.

For many years, Kevin took his seasonal work as St. Nick seriously, bringing the spirit of the holidays and joy to every family he met. He was happiest spending time with his family, especially on road trips with his beloved wife, Jennifer, never shying away from a long drive.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, step-father George and mother Linda Watts, father Wayne Dye as well as his brother and sister-in-law Shane & Jan Dye.

He is survived by his step-mother Judy Dye; wife, Jennifer Watts (Conwell); his children, Natalie Watts-Sochocki and Sam Sochocki, and Travis Watts; his brother, Sean Watts; nephew Chad & Shannon Stearns (Eric, Ethan, and Ellie) and niece Kayleigh & Eric Graul (Alex).

Kevin's warm heart, spirit, and love for life will be deeply missed by all.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the Irvington Lodge Events, 5515 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219 on Sunday September 28th, from 1:30 - 4:30 pm. All are welcome to come and share the love and memory of Kevin.
