Kieth W. Shafer Sr.

Keith W. Shafer, Sr., 88, of LaGrange, Indiana, died on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange.

Keith was born on November 5, 1937, in Howe, Indiana, to Glen J. and Pearl A. (Keller) Shafer.

A lifelong resident of LaGrange County, Keith worked as a truck driver. He hauled mail for many years and later worked at Mastercraft in LaGrange for over 30 years. Known for his wit and quick remarks, Keith enjoyed making others smile. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially doing yard work.

On January 23, 1974, in LaGrange, he married Judy Witham. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2023.

Keith is survived by four children, Keith (Joan) Shafer, Jr. of Orland, Indiana, Vicki (Tim) Weaver of Howe, Indiana, Glen (Sharon) Shafer of New Palestine, Indiana, and Joan (Dennis) Sivits of Shipshewana, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Julie Gadson of Sturgis, Michigan; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Jimmy Joe Burkheard; a granddaughter, Terri Curtis; a sister, Norma Beaty; and three brothers, Larry Shafer, James Shafer, and Eddie Shafer.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, and continue until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Indiana. Rev. Thomas Smith will officiate.

Burial will follow at Mongo Cemetery in Mongo, Indiana.
