Robert A. Tschannen, age 82, of Orland, Indiana, died Monday, February 23, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born April 20, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Melvin L., Sr. and Clara May (Croy) Tschannen.

A Fort Wayne native, Robert graduated from high school and joined the U.S. Army in December 1962. He faithfully served his country until his honorable discharge in December 1965.

On May 20, 1967, he married Vicki Lynn Hawk. She preceded him in death in 1998. They shared 31 years of marriage. On June 12, 2001, he married JoAnn Wheeler. She preceded him in death in 2025, and together they shared 24 wonderful years.

Robert worked for many years in the Maintenance Department at AMCAST Automotive of Indiana in Fremont, Indiana.

He was a life member of the Orland American Legion Post #423. He enjoyed reading his daily newspaper and stayed well informed on politics and local events. A sports fan, he especially enjoyed watching the Indiana Hoosiers. One of his favorite pastimes was karaoke, and he even started his own business, Bobby T's Karaoke. He was also a devoted father who coached his three sons in multiple sports and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.

Surviving are his three sons, Greg (Waneta) Tschannen of Middlebury, Indiana, Bryan (Becky) Tschannen of Angola, Indiana, and Chad (Tanya) Tschannen of Middlebury, Indiana; three step-children, Kevin (Lynn Mitchell) Boguth of Coldwater, Michigan, Natalie (Lowell) Delagrange of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michelle Boguth of Coldwater, Michigan, 14 grandchildren, Christy, Alicia, Kelsey, Lynsey, Cami, Jessica, Dustin, Brandon, Larissa, Maranda, Trelynn, Brockstan, Kiegen, and Braden; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Smith of Auburn, Indiana.

Along with both of his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barb Spieth and Dorothy Niger; and a brother, Melvin L. Tschannen, Jr.

In keeping with Robert's wishes, cremation is taking place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
